A magnificent mansion built in 1896 as the residence of the 14th head of the Uesugi family, Count Shigenori, on the former site of the Ninomaru bailey of Yonezawa Castle. It burned down in 1919, but was rebuilt in 1925 with a gabled roof made entirely of cypress and covered with copper sheets.
